Holiday Driving

Tis the season of peace and goodwill and the season of holiday parties. If you are out on the roads driving be extra careful with the holiday season upon us. There are people in town for shopping and visiting and they may not be familiar with the city or town you live in and they might make driving errors. There are also many holiday parties at this time of year so you must watch for drivers who might drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Sunday morning about 2 a.m. I was coming home from a holiday celebration with my friend Michelle and we saw a serious collision. The collision was on Calgary Trail at the intersection that leads to the Whitemud freeway. All I could see was a car upside down on its roof just behind the intersection. This collision appeared to me as if one of the two vehicles went through a red light and one vehicle was going so fast it had the power and speed to flip the other vehicle over. Very scary thought. If it was a case of a vehicle running a red light, remember you should always scan an intersection before proceeding into it, to ensure cross vehicles are stopping or stopped. Scan every intersection to the left, centre, right and left again before proceeding into it. This quick scan may help to keep you safe. (I hope the people involved in this collision were not too badly hurt.)

Be careful drive proactively always but especially during the holiday, Lana 🙂
